What is the Board of Trustees and what are their responsibilities?

The Board of Trustees ensures that LAWRS is managed adequately. It is made up of a minimum of 3 and maximum of 9 Latin American women, who are chosen every year during the AGM. When a Trustee leaves her role or when there are vacancies in the Board before the AGM, the other Trustees are in charge of recruiting new members.

All members of the Board of Trustees give their time and knowledge voluntarily.

Trustees are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that LAWRS meets its goals and works to provide a good service to benefit its service users.
  • Ensuring that LAWRS abides by the law.
  • Ensuring that LAWRS has sufficient resources and they are used responsibly.
  • Ensuring that LAWRS is transparent with its service users, members, funders and public.
