Frequently asked questions

Once you have completed our online Volunteering Registration Form, you will receive an automatic reply confirming that you have registered your interest.

Afterwards, our Volunteers Coordinator will contact you to confirm our application has been received. The email might request for some additional information. We will also inform you if there is any open volunteering vacancy.

Make sure that you find this email in your inbox so that you know you are not missing out on any further communication.

Your commitment has a great impact in the work we do. A range of varied and flexible volunteering opportunities are available, so you’ll be able to find something that fits your schedule.

We ask our volunteers to commit for one day a week –  usually for a minimum period of 6 months. There is no upper limit.

LAWRS values the contribution that our volunteers make to the organisation. For that reason, our volunteers are entitled to travel expenses to and from the place of work and lunch for each full day.

As a result of COVID-19 and honouring our duty of care, all our volunteer roles are carried out home-based, complying with government guidance.

Please be patient. Our Volunteers Coordinator works part time, and this could mean that it may take a little longer than you expect to hear back following your application.

Not usually. Some volunteering opportunities require qualifications and some need particular skills and experience. But most of our volunteer roles mainly require personal skills such as being reliable, being enthusiastic about a particular interest and committed to our cause.

All our volunteers are supported and supervised throughout their involvement with LAWRS.

As a volunteer you will have the support of both the Volunteers Coordinator and a member of staff who will be on hand to support you, and who you can talk to regarding any issues or concerns.

Additionally, all volunteers will be invited to participate in comprehensive, free, high quality insourced training sessions that will cover relevant topics.
