Migrant women survivors of gender violence write their stories through poetry. They share their experiences and pain through these powerful poems highlighting the hurdles migrant women must face when reporting violence. Unfortunately many migrant women are unable to report violence to the authorities and other state departments due to the hostile UK immigration laws that criminalise individuals despite being victims of different forms of violence. Due to this hostile environment many migrant women are forced to live in life threatening situations and are unable to stop the cycle of abuse, as they cant report violence safely without being criminalised for their immigration status. They emphasise that having or not a visa or a European passport does not negate anyone’s humanity. Every women deserves to live a life free from violence.
