Counselling and Psychotherapy Coordinator  – Maternity Cover.

Hours per Week:

35 hours.

Contract:

Fixed term.

Salary:

£30,450 per annum pro rata.

Responsible for:

Four part-time counsellors/psychotherapists and a small team of volunteer counsellors/psychotherapists.

The role

The women using LAWRS Counselling and Psychotherapy service benefit from practical and emotional support, learn new skills and improve their own opportunities. We strive to provide essential tools for women to empower themselves in their pursuit of personal and social change.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the provision of LAWRS specialist Counselling and Psychotherapy service and group work sessions for Latin American women and girls 16+, adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice and ensuring that appropriate service and quality standards, as well as legal requirements are fulfilled.

The Counselling Coordinator will provide clinical management to counsellors within the service. The role includes a small caseload of counselling practice.

You will have an excellent command of English and Spanish. This post is open to Latin American women only in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

LAWRS Southwark Outreach office opened in 2010 to develop new and sustainable ways of addressing the needs of Latin American women living in Southwark and its surrounding areas by developing services and partnerships with other local providers.

The role

We are seeking a motivated Latin American woman with a community development background to successfully manage LAWRS’ outreach work in the London borough of Southwark. The post holder will be responsible for reaching out to, and supporting Latin American women not accessing essential services and support, and for advocating locally for better responses to their needs.

The main duties of this post include:

  1. To reach out and support Latin American women in Southwark to access the services they need and improve their life chances through opportunities for development and leadership.
  2. To work with existing local services to co-develop services to address the needs of Latin American women in Southwark.
  3. To inform and influence local strategies to improve the integration/inclusion of Latin American women.

This post requires an excellent command of English and Spanish, problem-solving skills with the ability to think and act creatively, and a commitment to promote and uphold women’s rights.

This post is open to Latin American women only* in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and LGBTQ+ candidates as they are currently underrepresented within the team.

*women who identify as Latin Americans (1st and 2nd generation) and speak Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese.
